Former Kaduna senator Shehu Sani has launched a scathing attack on ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of tyranny, hypocrisy, and bad governance. In a fiery post on his X account, Sani condemned El-Rufai for what he described as a pattern of oppression while in office and sanctimonious criticism of the current administration after being sidelined.
Sani alleged that while in power, El-Rufai ruled with an iron fist, persecuted critics, and used religion to divide the people of Kaduna. Now out of office, he claimed, El-Rufai is suddenly preaching democracy and good governance.
“He demonized the opposition while in power but is now embracing them after being left in the wilderness,” Sani wrote, likening El-Rufai to a rejected suitor who turns against the woman who declined him.
The former senator also criticized El-Rufai’s stance on the current administration, recalling how the former governor once praised President Bola Tinubu but has now turned against him after being politically sidelined.
“The government was led by illiterates because they refused to hire Professor Midget,” Sani mocked, referring to El-Rufai’s fallout with the Tinubu administration.
Sani further accused the former governor of looting Kaduna State, leaving behind a mountain of debt, seizing lands for personal gain, and weaponizing banditry. He added that if El-Rufai had secured a position in Tinubu’s government, no critic in the North or South would have been safe from his “toxicity.”
The outspoken ex-lawmaker did not hold back, stating that El-Rufai is now “jobless” and desperate for relevance, often seeking invitations to northern public events where he fuels sectional sentiments.
“He thought he would have a puppet governor in Kaduna, but the reality is the opposite, and now he is frustrated,” Sani wrote, further ridiculing El-Rufai’s political misfortunes.
