PICTURE: Suspected drunk truck driver crushes LASTMA official in Lagos

A suspected drunk truck driver has been arrested after allegedly ramming into a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos, leaving him with severe injuries.
The tragic incident occurred when the truck, bearing plate number KTG 33 ZZ, was speeding from Agidingbi towards Omole. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control and struck the LASTMA officer, who was on his way to his duty post.
The victim sustained serious fractures in his right leg and hand and is currently receiving intensive medical care at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
In an attempt to evade arrest, the driver tried to flee the scene but was swiftly apprehended by officers from Ojodu Police Station, who collaborated with LASTMA officials to ensure his capture.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, visited the injured officer at LASUTH, condemning the reckless act and calling for responsible driving among motorists. He emphasized that LASTMA officials are on the roads to maintain order, not to antagonize drivers.
