Renowned broadcaster and journalist Oseni Rufai has condemned the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for allegedly threatening a corps member who publicly lamented the economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The controversy began when a female corps member, in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), voiced her frustration over Nigeria’s worsening inflation and economic struggles. She explained how the rising cost of living had left her financially stranded, making it difficult to survive on her NYSC allowance.

Shortly after the video gained attention, she reportedly received calls from NYSC officials, including the Secretary and Local Government Inspector (LGI), instructing her to take down the post.

Reacting to the development, Rufai took to his official X handle to mock the NYSC, questioning its priorities. He criticized the organization for allegedly failing to protect corps members from kidnappers while swiftly threatening one for speaking out against economic hardship.

“The same NYSC that can’t rescue kidnapped corps members is threatening a corps member for speaking against the hardship in the country. NYSC ooo,” Rufai wrote.

His remarks have created widespret reactions on social media, with many users backing the corps member and calling out the NYSC for attempting to silence her concerns.
