PDP threatens to expel Wike over ongoing political crisis

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a stern warning to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), threatening to expel him if the political turmoil in the state persists.
The party accused Wike, a former governor of the state, of engaging in activities that tarnish its reputation. Acting PDP Chairman in Rivers, Robinson Ewor, made this known during a press conference in Port Harcourt, stating that Wike’s actions have brought disgrace to the party.
Ewor also criticized the recent Supreme Court ruling that recognized Martins Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers as PDP members despite their public defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He insisted that the lawmakers had abandoned the PDP and should not be considered part of the party.
Furthermore, Ewor questioned Wike’s loyalty, arguing that his role in President Bola Tinubu’s APC-led administration shows he no longer serves PDP interests. “You cannot serve two masters,” he stated, suggesting that Wike has effectively aligned himself with the ruling party.
The PDP leader stressed that the party’s leadership, both at the national and state levels, would decide on the appropriate disciplinary measures against Wike at the right time. These could include suspension or outright expulsion.
Ewor further urged Wike to step back from his confrontations and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to focus on governance, emphasizing that restoring peace in the state should be the priority.
