2027: No opposition can defeat Tinubu – Shekarau

Former Governor of Kano, Ibrahim Shekarau, has stated that no coalition can unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
Shekarau’s position came barely 48 hours after a coalition of politicians in the opposition parties, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi and a host of others kicked against the position of the Federal Government on the political crisis in Rivers at a press charges conference in Abuja.
Shekarau, in a statement made available by Dr. Sule Yau, insisted that contrary to the claim, the figures are a ‘mere coalition of prospective Presidential/Vice Presidential aspirants’, and added that none of the principal actors carried the leadership of his party along.
The Senator, who sees the formation of the political actors as a ‘gang-up’ of individuals, reminded that no matter their ‘big names’, their coming together can never be considered a ‘merger’.
According to him, “The coming together of some very senior members of some opposition parties is a very welcome development, as seen recently under what they call ‘coalition’ of opposition parties.
“None of the principal actors is carrying the leadership of his party along. More so, the ‘gang-up’ of individuals, no matter their ‘big names’, can never be a ‘merger’ because, by law, only registered parties can formally and officially merge,” Shekarau insisted.
Shekarau asserted that the National Assembly’s affirmation of President Tinubu’s ‘State of Emergency’ has exposed the characters in the ‘coalition’ has no control over the opposition parties in the National Assembly.
“Accordingly, no amount of noise making, or coming together, by individual characters (aspirants) in the name of opposition will make any impact at elections, until and unless the full structure of leadership at all levels of the opposition parties are carried along.”
