APC extends Benue state caretaker committee’s tenure

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended the tenure of the Benue State Caretaker Committee for another six months following the expiration of its initial term in February.
The reappointment letters were officially handed over to committee members on Friday by the committee chairman, Dr. Benjamin Omale, at the APC state secretariat in Makurdi. The letters, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Sen. Surajudeen Ajibola, reaffirmed the committee’s mandate to continue overseeing party affairs in the state.
Reacting to the development, Dr. Omale expressed gratitude to the APC national leadership for its intervention in stabilizing the party in Benue. He acknowledged the role of the NWC in resolving internal disputes, including the involvement of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and Governor Hyacinth Alia, who played key roles in constituting the seven-member caretaker committee.
Dr. Omale also criticized the former state chairman, Austin Agada, accusing him of unlawfully parading himself as the party’s leader despite the formation of the caretaker committee. He warned Agada against any attempts to reclaim the APC chairmanship through unofficial means, stating that such actions would not go unchallenged.
“The APC under Governor Alia has been delivering on its mandate through infrastructural development, regular payment of salaries and pensions, and other key initiatives. Any attempts by individuals or groups to destabilize his government will not be tolerated,” Omale declared.
The ceremony, which marked the committee’s reappointment a week after its initial tenure expired, was attended by several party stakeholders, including all 23 local government party chairmen and the commissioner for power, transport, and renewable energy.
