Breaking: FG pays N77,000 allowance to NYSC corps members

The Federal Government has finally disbursed the sum of N77,000 as the March allowance for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), following weeks of anticipation.
The confirmation of the payment surfaced online through the NYSC Online Community, a popular social media platform dedicated to corps members. In circulating images, excited corps members shared screenshots of their bank alerts as evidence of the new allowance.
The payment aligns with the government’s commitment to adjusting corps members’ stipends in line with the recently approved minimum wage review. The increased allowance, which more than doubles the previous N33,000 stipend, has been met with enthusiasm among corps members nationwide.
Many corps members took to social media to celebrate, expressing relief over the long-awaited implementation of the increase. However, some also called for further improvements in welfare conditions, including better accommodation and job opportunities post-service.
The NYSC management is yet to issue an official statement regarding the disbursement, but with the circulation of alerts, corps members now have confirmation that the long-expected increase has become a reality.
