US frowns over killing of Cameroonian soldiers

United States has condemned the killing of Cameroonian soldiers serving in the Multinational Joint Task Force in Nigeria’s Lake Chad Basin.
The US embassy in a statement on Wednesday expressed condolences to Cameroon, describing the attack as a “heinous” act of terrorism.
The statement read, “The United States Embassy in Youande condemns the heinous March 24 terrorist attack against Cameroonian soldiers serving in Nigeria in support of the Multinational Joint Taskforce in Lake Chad Basin.
“On behalf of the American people, we extend our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of Cameroonian soldiers who lost their lives in defence of Cameroon and the region.”
The statement commended their sacrifice for the safety and security of the region
The statement added,
“The dedication and sacrifice of these soldiers in the fight against terrorism stand as a powerful testament to their unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Cameroon and the region.
“They will not be forgotten, and their legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
“We stand with all Cameroonians as they mourn the loss of their fellow citizens.”
On March 24, Boko Haram insurgents attacked a military base in Wolgo, Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, killing dozens of soldiers in a gun battle.
