Chaos as driver speeds off with soldier clinging to bonnet

A dramatic scene unfolded on a Nigerian road as a defiant driver was captured on video speeding off with a soldier hanging onto the bonnet of his moving car — an incident that has since gone viral on social media.
The video, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), shows the uniformed soldier clinging tightly to the vehicle’s bonnet while passengers inside the car can be heard taunting him. Despite the soldier’s apparent attempt to stop the car, the driver refused to halt, instead accelerating while voices from inside the vehicle mocked the situation.
“You no wan hear word, we go show you,” one voice said. “If we reach a far place, we go drop you and see what you’ll do, because you be soldier, Abi?”
The shocking footage sparked a wave of reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief, outrage, and concern over the brazen disregard for law enforcement and safety. Some users criticized the soldier’s actions, while others called for the arrest of the driver for endangering a life and escalating a confrontation in such a reckless manner.
As of the time of reporting, it is unclear what led to the altercation or whether any arrests have been made. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
