Reactions as young lady chooses first class over $5 million

A viral video making the rounds on social media has stirred controversy after a young Nigerian lady boldly chose academic excellence over instant wealth.
In the clip, the lady was asked a simple but thought-provoking question: Would you prefer to earn a first-class degree or receive $5 million in cash? To the surprise of many, she confidently picked the first-class degree.
Explaining her choice, the lady argued that attaining a first-class opens doors to greater long-term opportunities. She insisted that academic excellence attracts influential people and potential investors, giving her a chance to earn far more than the $5 million in the future. “Money can’t buy a first-class,” she said. “But if I can achieve it, I will be sought after by top individuals and businesses.”
Her response, however, sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms. While some praised her for prioritizing education and ambition, others criticized the decision as unrealistic, pointing to Nigeria’s harsh job market where even top graduates often struggle to find employment.
Read some netizens’ reactions below;
@simoncoleb: It’s her right and choice. She values a very sound education over 5 million. To each his own. What worked for Peter might not work for Paul. She could make more than that amount of money with his first class,who knows. Nobody can really tell the future. Let’s respect her choice.
@beautyranye: Smart: she’s positioning herself for online recruiters who sees she values knowledge over money
@femitobi1: So $5m cannot buy first class in this Nigeria. I need her handle please
@undiluted_ola: She’s right and she knows what she can pull. It’s not about money but the value she can create. At the end, she will be a lot bigger than $5m or have a status that is very important in the society.
@emmanuelpeters: I don’t know about preferring first class over 5 mil, but I love her spirit, confidence and sense of purpose, wonderful specs
@twyspecial: Who told her that they don’t buy first class
@flexy_akin: If my pikin talk this kind thing I go know say no be me born am…
I no need DNA
@nmecha: Damn,what’s she even thinking,with the 5m$ she can always get any education she want and still have a lot to do whatever she wants….what sort of high is this
