UTME 2025: JAMB releases result analysis

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a comprehensive analysis of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, shedding light on the performance of nearly two million candidates who sat for the examination across Nigeria.

According to the official data, only 12,414 candidates — representing just 0.63% of the total 1,955,069 candidates — scored 300 and above. This includes 4,756 candidates (0.24%) who scored 320 and above, and 7,658 candidates (0.39%) who scored between 300 and 319.

A total of 73,441 candidates (3.76%) fell within the 250 to 299 score bracket, while the largest number of candidates — 983,187, accounting for 50.29% — scored between 160 and 199.

Another 334,560 candidates (17.11%) scored between 200 and 249, and 488,197 (24.97%) landed within the 140 to 159 range. Scores between 120 and 139 were recorded by 57,419 candidates (2.94%), while 3,820 candidates (0.20%) scored between 100 and 119. Just 2,031 candidates (0.10%) scored below 100.

In addition, JAMB disclosed that 40,247 underage candidates were allowed to take the UTME in a bid to identify exceptional talent. However, only 467 of them (1.16%) met the board’s threshold for outstanding performance. Their results are being reviewed for possible advancement to the next stage.

The board also noted that 97 candidates were confirmed to have committed examination infractions, while another 2,157 are currently under investigation for suspected exam malpractice.

Meanwhile, 71,701 candidates were reported absent during the UTME, and a separate group of candidates with biometric issues is undergoing verification. Those cleared will be rescheduled to sit for the exam at designated centers.

Furthermore, JAMB revealed that results for blind candidates and others under the JEOG (Joint Examination for Other Groups) category are still being processed.

The board stated that it will hold a press conference later this week to announce the release of individual results and provide details on how candidates can check their scores.
