The Kaduna State Police Command has clarified the identity and condition of the individual who breached security protocol during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Murtala Mohammed Square, stating that the man suffers from a psychiatric disorder.

In an official statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the man was identified as Umar Mohammed, a native of Anguwan Muazu in Kaduna.

According to the police, Umar was screened and allowed into the venue like other supporters, wearing an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign T-shirt and carrying banners with images of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.

The statement explained that the individual, “out of excitement and curiosity,” breached security by entering the restricted area in an attempt to get a closer view of the President during the commissioning of state projects.

He was quickly intercepted and arrested by security personnel on the ground. A thorough search was conducted, and no dangerous or incriminating items were found in his possession, the police confirmed.

The Command further revealed that Umar Mohammed has a history of psychiatric disorders, which explains the unusual nature of his behavior.

Reacting to the speculations surrounding the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf Muhammad, urged members of the public to desist from spreading falsehoods or politicizing the event.

“We advise citizens and political commentators to avoid unnecessary panic or deliberate misrepresentation of the facts. The matter is under control and will be further investigated,” the statement added.
