Tragedy as okada rider shot dead by fleeing robbers

Tragedy struck near the Abia State University, Uturu, as a commercial motorcyclist, identified as Osinachi Asonye, was shot and killed by armed robbers attempting to escape after a heist in the area.
Eyewitnesses say Osinachi, who was simply riding his bike along the road, was mistaken by the fleeing robbers as someone trying to confront them. Without hesitation, they opened fire on him.
“They thought he was after them. Osinachi wasn’t even aware of what had just happened. He was only passing by when they saw him and assumed he wanted to block them,”
In the video circulating on social media, moments after being hit by the bullet, Osinachi jumped off his bike and tried to run for safety. Sadly, the damage had already been done. He collapsed a few steps away and died before help could reach him.
As of the time of filing this report, police authorities are yet to release an official statement on the killing.
