Adamawa police arrest 2 for stealing church generator battery

Police operatives in Adamawa State have arrested two young men for allegedly stealing a generator battery from a church in the state capital, Yola.
The suspects, identified as Dad Yusuf and Gibson Husseini, were picked up by officers of the State Intelligence Department (SID) following the theft of a 100Ah Mikano generator battery from the LCCN Cathedral in Jimeta.
The theft reportedly occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2025.
Both suspects, who are residents of Upper Luggere in Yola North Local Government Area, were arrested five days later on June 28 and have since confessed to the crime.
Spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement and revealed that the command is still investigating the case to trace other possible accomplices.
Nguroje also assured that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.
