At 60, Fayemi stands tall as a statesman and a leader – Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has penned a heartfelt tribute to John Kayode Fayemi, the former Governor of Ekiti State, as he celebrates his 60th birthday. Buhari described Fayemi as a statesman and a leader who continues to inspire people across Nigeria.
Fayemi played a crucial role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which made history in 2015 by defeating the ruling party through the ballot box.
Buhari, who benefited from Fayemi’s efforts as the director of policy for his presidential campaign, praised Fayemi’s dedication to democracy and his commitment to building a nation where everyone is free and equal.
Buhari also commended Fayemi’s character, citing his ability to bounce back from defeat and his refusal to hold grudges.
When Fayemi lost the governorship election in 2014, he didn’t let bitterness consume him. Instead, he regrouped and recalculated, eventually convincing the people of Ekiti State to give him another chance four years later.
As Buhari reflected on his association with Fayemi, he expressed pride in their partnership as party members, minister, and governor. He wished Fayemi a long life in good health and happiness, saying “Happy birthday and many Happy Returns.”
