Atiku camp fires back at Bwala over remarks

The Atiku Media Office has fired back at the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, accusing him of hypocrisy and desperation following his recent remarks aimed at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, the media team of Atiku described Bwala’s comments during a TVC interview as “disparaging,” “pathetic,” and a reflection of the growing fear within the Tinubu administration over the momentum of an emerging national coalition being spearheaded by Atiku.
“It is both ironic and pathetic that Mr. Bwala — a political turncoat who once served as spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign — now presumes to lecture a statesman of global standing on matters of legacy, destiny, and retirement,” the statement read.
The Atiku camp said Bwala’s recent political alignment and commentary reek of opportunism, claiming his current relevance stems solely from the platform provided by the former Vice President during the 2023 election cycle.
“If, as they claim, Atiku is a spent force, why the relentless smear campaign? Why the strategic allocation of presidential platforms to attack him?” the media office asked, suggesting that Atiku remains a major threat to the ruling party’s political dominance.
According to the statement, the coalition Atiku is currently building alongside other political stakeholders poses a “clear and present danger” to the APC-led federal government, which it described as a “decaying edifice.”
The Atiku Media Office further insisted that the former Vice President’s legacy as a reformist and a consistent advocate for restructuring and electoral integrity remains intact and deeply respected by millions of Nigerians.
“Legacy is not defined by the trappings of office but by courage, consistency, and conviction,” the statement said, while describing Bwala and others attacking Atiku as “political jesters masquerading as patriots.”
Reaffirming Atiku’s commitment to national unity and democratic revival, the media office declared that the Waziri Adamawa would not be distracted by what it called “the petty ego trips of desperate presidential aides.”
The statement concluded by asserting that the mission to “rescue and rebuild Nigeria” is a national imperative that cannot be undermined by attacks from those who once stood with Atiku but have now switched allegiances.
