Barcelona eye September return to Camp Nou

Barcelona are preparing to finally move back to the Camp Nou at the start of the 2025/26 season, following months of construction setbacks that have kept them away from their iconic ground far longer than originally planned.
Barcelona are expected to move back into the Camp Nou in September 2025 as work on the long-running stadium redevelopment nears completion.
The £1.25 billion project, which will increase capacity to 105,000 and introduce a new state-of-the-art roof, has faced repeated setbacks since renovations began following their La Liga title win in 2023.
Originally aiming for a grand reopening on 29 November 2024 to coincide with the club’s 125th anniversary, the timeline was pushed back due to slow progress on key structural elements.
According to Cadena SER, the return is now scheduled for just after the September international break at the start of the 2025/26 season. They have requested to play their first three league matches away from home to allow additional time for finishing touches.
While the new pitch was set to be laid in April, other installations—such as the roof, which will be the largest of its kind in Europe—are still underway. Once completed, the Camp Nou will reclaim its status as the biggest football stadium on the continent.
