Breaking: Inmates escape from Kogi correctional facility

Twelve inmates have reportedly escaped from the Federal Correctional Centre in Koton-Karfe, Kogi State.
Kogi State Information Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, Monday described the incident as “unfortunate” and assured the public that the government and security agencies are working to prevent a recurrence.
Authorities have already re-arrested one of the escapees, while investigations are underway to determine how the inmates managed to break out without causing structural damage. Fanwo hinted at the possibility of internal sabotage and called for a thorough probe into the incident.
Governor Usman Ododo has directed security agencies to tighten measures to prevent further security breaches. Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious individuals, as those found harboring escapees will face legal consequences.
“There is no cause for panic,” Fanwo assured, emphasizing that the government remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
