Breaking: Soludo’s key ally quits ahead of 2025 guber election

Jude Emecheta, the Senior Special Assistant on Administration to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has stepped down from his role.

Emecheta’s resignation, which surfaced barely five months to the November 8 governorship election, is already being seen as a major shake-up within the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The former aide, once a key figure in the party’s grassroots mobilization machinery, said he was quitting for “personal reasons,” but many observers aren’t buying that line.

While Emecheta publicly claimed his exit was to focus on his private business and spend more time with his family, some suggest he may be heading towards the All Progressives Congress (APC) to throw his weight behind Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC’s candidate in the upcoming governorship race.

He had previously served as the head of the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA), where he turned the agency from a barely-functioning body into a well-structured, revenue-generating institution.

Emecheta’s journey through Anambra politics dates back to the early days of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. He first made his mark in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before joining APGA, where he played a visible role in the campaigns of former Governor Willie Obiano and the current administration of Charles Soludo.
