Casado attracts Chelsea amid transfer rumour

La Liga champion Barcelona are reportedly considering the potential sale of Marc Casado this summer.

According to ‘Sport’, the Catalan giants are aware of Premier League interest, specifically from Chelsea, and may accept a substantial offer, despite the academy graduate’s initial prominence under Flick.

Marc Casado could be one of the players pushed out by FC Barcelona to increase the wage margin. The midfielder went from better to worse last season and according to ‘Sport’, Deco and Joan Laporta would like to see him leave if an interesting offer arrives.. The midfielder’s form waned last season, and ‘Sport’ reports that Deco and Joan Laporta would favour his departure should an attractive offer materialise.

The 21-year-old is reportedly highly regarded in the Premier League, with Barca aware of Chelsea’s particular interest. Despite Hansi Flick’s appreciation for the player, the ‘Blaugrana’ are not ruling out a sale.

Several factors contribute to the situation of the Sant Pere de Vilamajor native. First, the existing midfield congestion at Barcelona.

With players returning from injury, Barca faces the start of July with Casado, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Fermín, Pedri, Dani Olmo and Marc Bernal – seven players for three positions.

Pablo Torre has already departed, and Flick is considering deploying Raphinha as an inside forward or attacking midfielder should Nico Williams arrive, further increasing the competition.

Furthermore, Casado’s form has dipped since the second half of the season, losing ground to his teammates.

From taking De Jong’s place to being out of the rotation

Marc Casado was one of the great revelations in the first half of the season. At first he was in the club’s hierarchy behind Marc Bernal, but his teammate’s serious knee injury brought him to the fore and between September and the end of January he was an undisputed starter, overtaking a highly questioned De Jong. He even made his debut with the Spanish national team in November and was a starter against Switzerland.

However, he began to fade during the crucial phase of the season (a substitute in the Champions League Round of 16 against Benfica) and suffered a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee on 16 March.

He did not play another minute, despite being called up for the final matches. Now, with Bernal, a significant club prospect, returning, Casado faces a challenging situation.

This does not guarantee the pivot’s departure, but there is interest, and Barca, who require a major sale to balance their Financial Fair Play obligations, believe Marc Casado’s exit could be a solution.

The ‘Cules’ would be willing to negotiate for offers exceeding 30 million euros. Meanwhile, the player himself is keen to stay and prove his worth.
