Ed-el-Fitr: Governor Sule harps on unity, sustaining virtues of Ramadan

As Muslim faithful celebrated the end of the Ramadan fast, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State enjoined Muslims to remain obedient to the teachings of the Almighty, even as he called on the people to unite for the continued development of the state.
Governor Sule made the call shortly after observing this year’s Eid-el-Fitr prayer in Gudi, his country home, on Sunday.
Addressing journalists in Gudi, the Governor expressed gratitude to Allah for granting him the opportunity to witness the conclusion of another Ramadan.
“First and foremost, let me join everyone in thanking Allah for giving us the opportunity to witness the end of another Ramadan. So many people would have wished to be in the position that we are today, in good health, but unfortunately, they couldn’t. We must thank God Almighty for this privilege and pray He grants us long life to witness more Ramadans,” he said.
Reflecting on the essence of the holy month, the Governor emphasized the need to sustain the virtues cultivated during Ramadan, including unity, sacrifice, and obedience to divine teachings.
“The teachings of Ramadan are for us to come together, make sacrifices, and pay total obedience to Allah. Sustaining these virtues is paramount. I call on the people of Nasarawa State to continue working together, praying for one another, and upholding the spirit of charity and humility,” he urged.
Earlier in his Sallah message to the people of the state,, the Governor elaborated on these themes, noting that Ramadan’s spiritual exercises, such as fasting, intense prayers, and acts of kindness, strengthen faith and foster communal harmony.
He called on citizens to persistently apply these values beyond the holy month.
“It behooves us all to pray for the peace, security, and economic prosperity of our state. We must reaffirm our obedience to Allah’s injunctions and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), while also praying for our leaders to govern with justice and fear of God,” he added.
The Governor used the opportunity of the occasion to equally called on the people of Nasarawa State to work together.
“I want to use the opportunity to call on the good people of Nasarawa State to continue to work together as a people, to continue to pray for one another. To continue to assist one another and continue to sustain the teachings of Ramadan,” he said.
He specifically urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging the temporary hardships caused by recent economic reforms.
“It is also an obligation on us to pray for our leaders at all levels to govern with the fear of God and the virtues of justice, humility and service for the good of humanity. The season also calls for greater vigilance to ensure a safe neighbourhood, as well as general security, peace and harmony.
“I wish to take the liberty of this occasion to appeal to Nigerians to continue to pray for our leader, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, as he remains resolute in his avowal to turn around the fortunes of our country through various economic policies. We are fully aware of the hardship occasioned by some of the initiatives, but be rest assured that they are temporary and in no distant time, Nigeria will begin to enjoy the dividends of these policies,” he appealed.
The Governor also called on motorists to be cautious and to obey traffic regulations during the festive period, charging the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and security agencies to enhance vigilance.
“Let us prioritize safety to protect lives and property. Compliance and vigilance will ensure a joyful celebration for all,” he added.
