Eriksen eyes Ajax return

Christian Eriksen has hinted at a possible return to Ajax as he prepares to leave Manchester United this summer, with the Danish midfielder’s contract set to expire in June.
Christian Eriksen’s three-year stint at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close.
The 33-year-old midfielder has signalling his readiness to embark on a new challenge.
“I haven’t heard anything from the club, and therefore I assume that the collaboration will stop. That’s how I interpret it,” Eriksen revealed while on international duty with Denmark.
The former Tottenham and Inter Milan player, who joined United in 2022, has made it clear that he is “prepared to find something new” as his contract nears its end.
Dutch reports suggest that Ajax, where Eriksen made 162 appearances before his move to Tottenham in 2013, could be a potential destination for the experienced playmaker.
Eriksen’s reluctance to return to Denmark at this stage of his career has fuelled speculation about a reunion with his former club in Amsterdam.
“I’m waiting and seeing what offers come in. I’m not going to make any hasty decisions, but if the right thing comes, I’ll take it,” Eriksen stated, keeping his options open.
The midfielder’s potential return to Ajax would mark a full circle in his career, potentially offering him a familiar environment to showcase his talents in the twilight of his playing days.
As Eriksen weighs up his options, Manchester United fans will be reflecting on his contributions over the past three seasons, which included 66 Premier League appearances and a crucial role in the club’s Carabao Cup triumph in 2023.
