Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Rabi’u, a Senior Special Reporter (SSR) attached to the Ministry of Transportation, over what has been described as unguarded and inflammatory comments directed at Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The directive, issued on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, also included an order for a formal query to be issued to the suspended aide.

In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the state government dissociated itself from Rabi’u’s remarks, clarifying that his statements were made in a personal capacity and did not reflect the official position of the Kano State Government.

“The statement authored by the suspended aide is solely his personal opinion and not that of the government. He acted outside his jurisdiction and without authorization,” the statement emphasized.

The government used the opportunity to caution all political appointees against making public statements without prior clearance, particularly on sensitive political matters or issues of public interest.

It also reaffirmed that only the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, is authorized to speak on behalf of the government, while Sanusi Bature, the Director-General of Media and Publicity, is the official spokesperson for the governor.

“Any political appointee must seek proper clearance before making public comments related to government positions,” the statement warned.
