LP chieftain slams Abure’s factions as party crisis continues

A former National Treasurer of the Labour Party, Oluchi Oparah, has dismissed a recent report circulating in the media, purportedly signed by Farouk Umar, claiming that the Abure-led faction has suspended Governor Alex Chioma Otti and several other elected members.
According to Oparah, the report is baseless and holds no water, citing the Supreme Court’s April 4th judgment that set aside Abure’s leadership. “You can’t put something on nothing and expect it to stand,” Oparah said, adding that Abure’s actions are a “last kick of a dying horse.”
Oparah accused Abure’s faction of working against the party’s interests, describing them as “tools in the hands of the opposition to destabilize the party.” The former treasurer expressed disappointment in Abure’s defiance of the Supreme Court’s judgment, questioning how someone sacked by the highest court could undermine its authority.
The suspended elected members include Senator Ireti Kingibe, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon Afam Ogene, Hon Seyi Sowunmi, and Hon Amaobi Ogar.
