NAF offers free medical care to over 700 Bauchi community to mark its 61st anniversary

As part of activities to mark its 61 years anniversary, the Nigerian Air Force has offered free medical care to over 700 Bauchi community.

The medical outreach which was held over the weekend had residents of Kuhu community in Bauchi Local Government Area as beneficiaries.

The medical outreach was coordinated by the Headquarters of the Special Operations Command in Bauchi

aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery and strengthen civil-military relations.

Speaking during the inauguration of the one-day outreach, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Usman Kandi Abdullahi, Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Special Operations Command, said the effort reflects NAF’s commitment to its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

AVM Abdullahi who was represented by the Chief of Staff, AVM Abdullahi Bello, emphasised the importance of community support.

According to him, “We give to society the little we have because their problem is our problem, and our problem is theirs” .

Air Commodore Adedoyin Oyenusi, Commander of the 261 Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital in Bauchi who explained that Kuhu was chosen due to its proximity to the hospital noted that the outreach demonstrates NAF’s commitment to improving civilian-military relationships.

According to him, “This initiative contributes significantly to the well-being of this community, residents will benefit from free consultations, screenings for conditions such as hepatitis, malaria, and diabetes, distribution of mosquito nets to pregnant women.

Air Commodore Adedoyin explained that the offer include dental check-ups, eye examinations, and the distribution of eyeglasses as well as services for hypertension, ulcers, and deworming will also be available.

Adedoyin also assured that serious cases identified during the outreach would be referred to the NAF Hospital in Bauchi for further treatment, stressing that the hospital remains open to civilians who clearly state their purpose at the gate.

In a vote of thanks, Alhaji Salihu Shehu, Village Head of Kuhu, appreciated the Nigerian Air Force for the gesture, noting that the turnout included residents from neighboring communities.

“This is the second time we are receiving this kind of support from NAF, and we are deeply grateful,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Musa Ali, expressed delight and appreciation over the opportunity, urging NAF to regularise the outreach. END
