Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan insists visiting constituency despite rally ban

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has reaffirmed her commitment to visiting her constituency for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, despite the recent ban on rallies imposed by the Kogi State Government.
In a statement released by her media team on Tuesday, the senator dismissed circulating rumours suggesting that she had canceled her planned visit. She urged her supporters to disregard the misinformation, assuring them that the visit would go ahead as scheduled.
“We are pleased to confirm that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sallah visit to Kogi Central will proceed as planned. Despite online rumours, no official statement has been issued regarding a cancellation,” the statement read.
Akpoti-Uduaghan reassured her constituents of her unwavering commitment to engaging with them during the festivities. She encouraged residents to come out in large numbers, emphasizing that the celebration is an opportunity to strengthen unity and foster peace within the community.
Discovererngr.com reports that her confirmation comes in the wake of the Kogi State Government’s decision to ban public gatherings and rallies, citing security concerns. According to the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, intelligence reports suggested that certain individuals were planning to incite violence under the guise of political and religious activities. The government stressed that the measure was a necessary precaution to maintain peace, particularly following recent violent incidents in some local government areas that resulted in loss of lives.
Despite the restrictions, Akpoti-Uduaghan assured that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure a peaceful and successful Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Kogi Central. Her insistence on proceeding with the visit signals her determination to stay connected with her people, even in the face of political tensions and security challenges.
