“Nigerians will reject you in 2027”, PDP tells Tinubu

Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has told President Bola Tinubu that Nigerians will reject him in 2027.
The Pro-PDP group urged the President to do himself some good by shelving the thoughts of retaining the Presidency beyond May 29, 2027, as citizens had made up their minds never to reward failure and purveying of hardship with re-election or allow anybody to manipulate the outcome of the forthcoming Presidential election.
Protem National Coordinator of CP-PDP, Obinna Nwachukwu, stated, yesterday, in Abuja that no amount of electoral manoeuvring, intimidation or coercion from the All Progressives Congress (APC) would yield electoral control of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which is a stronghold of the PDP to the APC, in the coming February 2026 FCT Area Council election.
Nwachukwu spoke in response to Tinubu’s ‘open confession’ on March 30, 2025, that he consented to the request by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to exempt FCT from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for the partisan reason of winning an election in the FCT.
He added: “President Tinubu also confessed that he threatened to sack the FCT Minister if the PDP again led the FCT election, even when the FCT is an undisputed stronghold of the PDP where the President was defeated in the 2023 Presidential election and where the PDP has 42 councillors and three council chairmen over APC’s three chairmen and 20 councillors.
IN a chat with newsmen, Agunloye explained the party’s registration process and the protests surrounding el-Rufai’s entry into the SDP. On whether the former governor is a member of SDP and if the party is happy to have him, Agunloye enthused: “Of course, we are happy to have the former governor and former minister, el-Rufai, in SDP. Which party wouldn’t want such a vibrant and energetic politician in its fold? The former governor joined the party on Monday, March 10, 2025, about three weeks ago,” he said.
However, reports of protests by some SDP members in Kaduna have raised doubts over el-Rufai’s official status in the party. Agunloye clarified that the protests were not against el-Rufai personally but about following the correct procedures.
“I checked and found that the protests and complaints were genuine and were based on formalities. I believe the protesters were not averse to having the former governor in SDP. They were questioning the procedures only,” he explained.
According to him, membership registration must begin at the Ward level before it can be recognised at the national level.
