Oyo govt takes SAfER phase 4 to Oke-Ogun, distributes farm input

Oyo state government has restated the commitment of Governor Seyi Makinde‘s administration to continue to ensure abundant food supply for the people of the state thereby reducing prices of food stuffs and cushioning economic hardship for residents.
The commissioner for agriculture and rural development, Barrister Olasunkami Olaleye who is also the chairman of SAfER food security sub-committee reaffirmed this at the fourth phase of the SAfER agricultural input distribution programme in Oke Ogun comprising Kajola LG, Itesiwaju LG, Iwajowa LG, Atisbo LG, Shaki West and Orelope LG.
The commissioner equally reemphasized that the fourth phase would cut across the state with the distribution of cassava stems, hybrid maize seedlings, herbicides and nap-sack sprayers.
He recalled that N1billion loan was disbursed to farmers through accredited microfinance banks, while thousands of poultry, fishery and piggery farmers had also benefited in the first, second and third phases of the inputs distribution exercise to farmers across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, one of the recipients thanked the state government for the farm inputs support, saying that the materials would have significant effects on their farms and produce and urged other beneficiaries not to sell the farm inputs but to make judicious use of them to complement the efforts of the government.
