Salah speaks on Liverpool renewal’s contract offer

Mohamed Salah has a renewal offer at Liverpool, but Saudi Arabia are still confident he will arrive after the Club World Cup. Al-Hilal want him to take Neymar’s place as the star of the project.
The Saudi Pro League continues to target Mohamed Salah, whose continuity (or not) at Liverpool is beginning to become something of a soap opera. The Egyptian has been in the race for the Ballon d’Or with an exceptional season for the Reds, leading them to another Premier League title as he surpasses 50 official goals scored, but with three months left on his contract there is still no news.
According to ‘The Telegraph’, the 32-year-old striker has an offer on the table from the Reds to renew his contract. However, Salah prefers to put it on hold and wait because the interest from Arab football does not cease. Apparently, the lack of agreement on the years of the contract is a major stumbling block that the Egyptian’s agents and the Merseyside team have not yet been able to overcome.
In this context, the aforementioned media reports that Al-Hilal are the club most keen on signing Mo Salah. After the departure of Neymar, the Riyadh club wants the Egyptian to take his place as the big face of the project. The Brazilian’s exit did not work out due to injury, but the Liverpool winger’s bestial year is the guarantee for them that he will be the next big star of the Saudi Arabian League.
In 2023, Liverpool rejected a bid of around €180m for their benchmark player, then from Al-Ittihad, and now they risk the Egyptian ending his Anfield career for free if they do not find a way for him to renew his contract between now and 30th June. However, in Arabia it is clear that he will not leave before that date.
Although FIFA established an extraordinary market in June for those participating in the Club World Cup, Mohamed Salah will play it with Liverpool. He will then have to make his final decision, which will necessarily involve either renewing his contract or leaving for Arabia. The English press practically rules out a move to another European club.
The Egyptian will then have to decide what he wants. A last astronomical contract or break the mould in the Premier League. He is said to be obsessed with numbers and records, and there he has yet to surpass Roger Hunt as the second highest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history. Further ahead of him is Ian Rush, with 346, more than 100 short of his current tally of 243.
