Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has stated that his father is the only Nigerian president who has no interest in personal enrichment.

Speaking to a gathering of youths in Yola, Adamawa State, Seyi Tinubu dismissed criticisms against his father, asserting that despite attacks on their family, President Tinubu remains committed to improving Nigeria.

“It was never about politics, but they keep coming for me, they keep coming for my family, they keep coming for your father, they keep coming for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the greatest president in the history of Nigeria,” he declared.

According to Seyi, Tinubu is the only president who has prioritized youth empowerment and created an economy that benefits all Nigerians. He further claimed that his father is not focused on enriching himself, unlike past leaders.

His remarks come in response to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who recently accused the Tinubu administration of corruption. In his new book, Nigeria: Past and Future, released for his 88th birthday, Obasanjo described the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project as a scheme designed to siphon public funds.

Obasanjo also criticized the government for spending ₦21 billion on a new residence for Vice President Kashim Shettima, calling it a misplaced priority amid economic hardship.

Highlighting widespread corruption among Nigerian leaders, the former president recalled how some governors cleared billions in personal debt within two years of taking office without running any businesses. He alleged that many leaders divert state resources for personal gain, silencing those who could expose them.

Obasanjo particularly condemned what he termed “criminally ridiculous” acts by some chief executives, accusing them of deception and financial mismanagement.

He pointed to the Lagos-Calabar road project and the Vice President’s residence as prime examples of wasteful spending under the Tinubu administration.
