Don’t be misled. This article is not about the forthcoming 2027 general elections. It is about the terminal point of the present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The moment is epochal and pivotal, presenting a sense of urgency for getting things right, especially with the commitment and determination of the Governor Sule administration to surpass itself during the remaining years leading to 2027.
The period calls for sober reflection, a rejuvination and revitalization for the final push in order to finish the race at topmost speed, more so with the unprecedented, ambitious 2025 budget of N384bn.
It is pertinent to note that as Governor Sule came onboard hitting the ground running in 2019, it is the topmost aspiration of the administration to complete the race in 2027 on a very high speed.
It’s not gainsaying the fact that, Nasarawa State since 2019, has continued to witness unprecedented development, making the state one of the most viable and economically competitive states in the country.
Indeed, Nasarawa State has witnessed significant growth and development under the leadership of Governor Sule from 2019 to date. This progress can be likened to the blossoming of a flower, where careful nurturing and attention to detail have led to remarkable transformation.
The state has seen notable advancements in economic development, with Governor Sule’s administration focusing on investment, industrialization, and job creation.
The establishment of companies like Avatar New Energy Materials Co Ltd and Azgard Mining and Processing Plant has not only boosted the state’s economy but also provided employment opportunities for the people.
Again, infrastructure development has also been a key focus area, with the state government investing heavily in road construction, healthcare facilities, and education infrastructure. The completion of several road projects has brought about improved connectivity and facilitates movement of goods and services, while the upgrading of healthcare facilities is enhancing access to quality healthcare services.
Agricultural development has been another significant area of growth, with the state government implementing initiatives to boost agricultural production and productivity. The Jangwa Rice Farm has become a reference point, with Nasarawa State now the poster boy of agricultural renaissance in the entire country.
Most significantly, Governor Sule’s administration has also prioritized good governance, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and responsiveness.
The establishment of a functional data base in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), through the Nasarawa State Bureau for Public Procurement, has improved tracking and monitoring of government transactions, while the promotion of citizen engagement and participation has ensured that the needs and concerns of citizens are taken into account.
It is therefore safe to say that, during the past six years, the growth and development of Nasarawa State under Governor Sule’s leadership have been remarkable, much like the blossoming of a flower. With continued focus on economic, infrastructure, agricultural development, and good governance, the state is poised for even greater progress in the years to come.
However, and in the remaining two years or so of his administration, Governor Sule has promised to perform beyond measure as he is determined to put in his best towards delivering on his vision to further develop the state.
Little wonder then that the Governor, while hosting a delegation of traditional rulers and stakeholders from Akwanga Local Government Area led by the Chun Mada, HRH Pastor Samson Gamu Yare at the Government House recently, called on his supporters not to distract him as he focuses on delivering on his mandate.
He stated that he is focusing his attention on the job at hand such that the next two years will be the best years ever for his administration. Governor Sule was even more particular on the need and essence of driving the implementation of the 2025 budget.
Even though it could be seen as a routine administrative maneuver, the recent dissolution of his cabinet was informed by the Governor’s desire to put up a new team that has the capacity and competence to facilitate the vision of his administration in the years ahead.
While he undertakes the process of constituting this new team that would assist him not only achieve his desire to give his best, but most importantly also drive the implementation of the N384bn, 2025 budget, Governor Sule must not be distracted.
For Nasarawa State to get it right, the people of the state must rally around the Governor and to support him as he identifies capable and competent individuals that would form his new cabinet.
If Nasarawa State must get it right, then merit and competence must play crucial role in selecting members of the new cabinet. This is the only way that individuals with the necessary skills, expertise, and experience are chosen and can come on board to actualize the vision of the administration.
The people of Nasarawa State must not distract Governor Sule but must support him to identify only individuals of proven capacity and pedigree who are better equipped to make informed decisions and drive progress.
Certainly, the task ahead calls for a collective resolve and determination to support Governor Sule to constitute a formidable team that would assist him put Nasarawa State on the path of sustainable development.
It is not a moment for jamboree, needless conjecture, and political patronage or opportunism. The moment calls for clear headedness and resolve to put Nasarawa State above personal interest.
Let us, therefore, support Governor Sule in his quest to further drive development in our de ar Nasarawa State.
