3 Edo governorship candidates withdraw to support APC

Ahead of Edo election, three Edo State governorship candidates have withdrawn from the race to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Monday Okpebholo.
According to AIT, the candidates who spoke at a conference in Benin city said they are sacrificing their ambitions for Okpebholo because of his vision and charisma, asserting that he is best suited to drive development in the state.
Asides from the candidates, chairmen from five political parties have also publicly endorsed the APC candidate.
The endorsing candidates are Zenith Labour Party’s Bishop Akhalameh, Ugiagbe Sylvester of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM and Akhimie Kingson of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
The five parties now supporting Okpebholo’s Governorship bid are NRM, ADP ,SDP, ZLP and APM.
Senator Monday Okpebholo, encouraged by the solidarity from the candidates and party leaders, has pledged to form a unity government to drive the necessary change in Edo State.
The gubernatorial election will hold on Saturday, 21st September, 2024.
