5 killed as gunmen ambushed soldiers


Some Nigerian soldiers have been ambushed by terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram.
The terrorists killed at least five military personnels in an ambush on Thursday.
The incident happened along the Biu-Buratai-Buni Yadi road, a path that has remained a death trap, as it has witnessed a series of deadly attacks in recent times.
Among those killed are a lieutenant Officer, a driver, gunner, four other soldiers and their identities have been withheld.
Unconfirmed reports indicated that several numbers of the terrorists/attackers were killed during an exchange of gunfire with troops near Kamuya village, just a few kilometres drive from Buratai, the hometown of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Retired).
A security source also confirmed the development.
He said, “Yes based on the situation report, soldiers of 135 Special Force BN FOB in Buratai were ambushed by terrorists on their way to Damaturu, the Yobe state capital to buy fuel.
“Unfortunately, one (1) officer was killed, including a driver, gunner plus four (4) other escort”.
