Joshua begins talks to fight Dubois September

British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has initiated negotiations to face his compatriot, Daniel Dubois, in a highly anticipated showdown scheduled for September.
Joshua, 34, is slated to step into the ring at Wembley Stadium on September 21, and he was in attendance last Saturday in Saudi Arabia to witness Daniel Dubois’ triumph over Filip Hrgovic.
Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, negotiations are currently underway to make the highly anticipated Joshua-Dubois bout a reality.
Dubois, 26, stopped Hrgovic in their IBF ‘interim’ title fight, putting himself in prime position to be called as the next mandatory challenger to Oleksandr Usyk.
Ukrainian Usyk has requested his IBF belt not be stripped so the undisputed title can remain on the line when he fights Tyson Fury in their rematch on 21 December.
If the IBF decides to strip Usyk, Dubois could be elevated to world champion and that could then make a fight with Joshua a title bout.
Joshua is on a four-fight winning streak and is already a two-time unified world champion.
Following the consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk, which resulted in the loss of his world titles, Anthony Joshua has impressively rebuilt his career, achieving four victories.
Dubois has also made a strong comeback, achieving two victories since his unsuccessful attempt to dethrone Oleksandr Usyk in August 2023.
Dubois, from London, secured wins against Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic, with the latter fight being a notable upset, as Dubois was considered the underdog going into the match.
