Edo, Ondo witness surge in voter registration

A total of 269,992 new voters have been registered in Edo and Ondo States, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The figures, released on June 11, 2024, show a significant increase in voter registration in the two states.
Breakdown of the figures reveals:
– 129,246 male voters (47.87%)
– 140,756 female voters (52.13%)
– 182,541 youths (18-34 years) making up 67.61% of the total
– 95,463 students (35.36%)
– 1,588 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) (0.59%)
Furthermore, INEC received:
– 24,454 requests for replacement of lost or damaged PVCs
– 74,493 applications for voter transfer
– 8,314 requests for information update
A statement signed by the National Commissioner in charge of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said the register will be displayed for claims and objections from June 12, 2024, in all 395 wards across the two states, and on the INEC website.
The public is encouraged to review the register and report any errors or ineligible voters.
