Lagos APC chair attacked by party members

Lagos State is witnessing a tense standoff after some All Progressives Congress (APC) members allegedly attacked the party’s Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi.
Sources revealed that the conflict within the party is rooted in a struggle for control of Local Government Areas (LGAs), with various stakeholders vying for leadership positions.
As according to report, the party chairman was attacked at the party’s secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Ikeja.
Ojelabi was reportedly assaulted by angry party members from Alimosho Local Government, who marched on the party’s secretariat to protest his leadership and the handling of the crisis in their local government.
The protesters accused Ojelabi of bias and were about to beat him up when policemen waded in and rescued the chairman.
In a viral video, the angry members removed the chairman’s cap, and attempted to beat him, but were stopped by the timely intervention of police officers.
It was learned that the protesters, gathered at the party’s secretariat, became violent when Ojelabi refused to consider their proposals for resolving the leadership crisis in the Alimosho party chapter.
Ojelabi refused to accept their request and stipulated that the existing public officeholders must be part of a meeting to deliberate on their recommendations and proposals for the APC in Alimosho, rather than relinquishing control.
