Gombe Association of NGOs appoints new chairman

An umbrella body of all civil society organisations in Gombe State known as ‘Association of NGOs’ (ANGO) have appointed a new chairman to oversee the affairs of the association pending election of substantive executives.
The new chairman Malam Idris Maigari Lawanti was the former director of information of the association.
Addressing press conference, the members of association led by their secretary Dr Bachama Yusuf said the unanimous decision to appoint new chairman followed the resignation of the former chairman Mr Ibrahim Yusuf.
He said Ibrahim had been holding the position for 10 years adding that even after tendering resignation, he continued to parade himself as the chairman and allegedly refused to facilitate transition of leadership.
The association, he said therefore held extra ordinary meeting on Monday 8th April, 2024, deliberated on his resignation and appointed an interim chairman.
They asked the general public to work with the new leadership whenever they want to deal with the Gombe state Association of NGOs.
