Man killed during morning prayer in Anambra

A former President-General, Amansea Development Union in Anambra State, Cajetan Nwokike, has been killed by gunmen on Thursday.
The gunmen reportedly entered Nwokike’s residence while he was performing a “traditional morning prayer of breaking of kola nut” and “shot him point blank on the head,” resulting in his instant death.
This was disclosed by the National President, Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State, Omife I.
The statement read, “The Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State has received the shocking news of the brutal death of one of her members, Chief Cajetan Nwokike, former PG Amansea, who was allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen yesterday morning in his house at Amansea.
“The report said that late Nwokike was performing his traditional morning prayer of breaking of kola nut that fateful morning when two young men entered his house and shot him point blank on the head, killing him instantly.”
APPAS, in its statement, urged the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo and the security agents “to leave no stone unturned to unmask the perpetrators of this serial killings,” as they expressed their worries over Nwokike’s death.
“We will deeply miss Chief Cajetan Nwokike, a man who was full of life and very active in APPAS, whose death has created a big vacuum in our Association.
“We condole with his family and assure them that his killers will not go unpunished. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement read.
However, when contacted by our correspondent, the spokesman for the state police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said, “The case is being investigated as we speak now and some eyewitnesses have provided information that’s helpful in the ongoing investigation.”
The state police command stated that it had combed some hideouts On Thursday, April 11, allegedly belonging to gunmen who specialise in attacking police formations in the state.
According to Ikenga, the Joint Security Force operated at the Ogbaru forest in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state on Friday
