In Ondo, residents shun #EndBadGovernance protest

Ondo state residents seemingly ignored the call to protest against bad governance on Thursday, as the streets remained empty and devoid of any agitators.
According to report, commercial activities in major towns like Akure, Owo, Akoko, and Idanre, which had initially come to a standstill, gradually picked up pace on an hourly basis, showing significant improvement throughout the day.
As the situation improved, there was a noticeable increase in the movement of both private and commercial vehicles, alongside a visible security presence, with operatives patrolling and securing strategic points.
Areas visited included Isikan roundabout, Okearo, Ijomimo, Cathedral, Ondo Road and Oyemekun road in Akure, Isalu and MTD junction in Idanre and Fajuyi, Ehin ogbe and Iyere in Owo where the atmosphere remained calm except for queues witnessed in few filling stations.
Some of the residents who spoke with Radio Nigeria said protest would worsen the current situation.
Mr Idowu Adewumi and Aremo Emmanuel however appealed to government to find timely solutions to economic and other problems confronting the citizenry.
Comrade Pius Godwin, a past chairman of the drivers’ union’s Ajeigboro-Isikan unit, added his voice to the demands, urging the authorities to promptly reopen the borders and lower fuel costs.
The people made a passionate plea to federal, state, and local governments to work together to improve the standard of living, paving the way for hunger to be alleviated promptly.
