SWAN mourns passing of veteran Journalist

The Kaduna State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran journalist Jacob Zango, who died on Wednesday in Kaduna after a brief illness.
In a statement released on Friday, SWAN Kaduna Secretary Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson conveyed the heartfelt condolences of SWAN Kaduna Chairman Shehu Abdullahi.
Abdullahi described Zango’s death as a significant loss to the journalism community and to him personally.
“On behalf of all members of our association and SWAN President Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, who hails from our state, we express our profound grief over the loss of one of our respected veterans,” Abdullahi said. He reminisced about his close working relationship with Zango during their time at the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), where Zango served until his passing.
The statement emphasized Zango’s wealth of experience and noted how his wisdom and expertise were especially crucial to SWAN at this time. The association extended its deepest sympathies to Zango’s immediate family, the KSMC, the Atyap community, the Kaduna State Government, as well as his many friends and colleagues in the media industry.
“We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
