FG releases comprehensive lists of foreign accredited universities

The Federal Government has revealed that only eight universities in Togo and Benin Republic are recognized to award degrees to Nigerian students.
Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, disclosed this on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics program.
Mamman stated that a recent investigation uncovered over 22,500 fake degree certificates obtained by Nigerians from unauthorized institutions in these countries. The government has vowed to cancel these certificates.
The accredited universities are:
Togo:
1. Universite De Lome
2. Universite De Kara
3. Catholic University of West Africa
Benin Republic:
1. Universite D’abomey-Calavi
2. Universite De Parakou
3. Universite Nationale Des Sciences, Technologis Ingenierie Et Mathematiques
4. Universite Nationale D’ Agriculture
5. Universite Africaine De Development Cooperatif
Mamman emphasized that the government will not reverse its decision to invalidate the fake certificates, citing the damage they cause to Nigeria’s reputation. He urged employers to verify certificates and take action against those holding fake degrees.
