FRSC trains 1,646 personnel, graduates 20 junior officers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has trained no fewer than 1,646 personnel and graduates 20 junior officers of the Corps from the staff college, Udi, Enugu State.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed said that the Corps had launched a comprehensive capacity-building programme.

This, he said led to the training of the personnel across the cadres and graduation of the Junior Officers.

He maintained that the capacity-building program was designed to empower staff with the latest skills, knowledge, and best practices in road safety management.

Mohammed, who was represented by the Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) Chidi Okwonta during the ceremony, said that the Corps was investing in the future of road safety in Nigeria.

He said that the training which was first of its kind was propelled by the quest to achieve the policy thrust of the administration and secure the future of the FRSC.

He also said that the training aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge to meet the evolving demands of road safety management and traffic administration.

The Corps Marshal said that the initiative underscored his commitment to positioning FRSC as a leading road safety agency, equipped to address the complex challenges of modern road safety management.

He added that the various training programmes would feature a combination of theoretical and practical training sessions, workshops, and mentoring, conducted by in-house and international experts.

He added that the program which had commenced in all the training institutions of the Corps, focused on: traffic enforcement and management, road safety education and advocacy.

This, he added were also data analysis and research, leadership and management development, digital literacy and technology adoption among others.

“This comprises of the training of 341 Unit Commanders, 415 Road Marshal Assistants for enhanced professionalism and civility to the motoring public.

“700 Drivers, 90 Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, as well as 100 junior Officers across the training schools nationwide.

“This is brings to the total of 1646. While some have been concluded, others are still ongoing.

“Part of the milestone in this regard since assumption of office in May, 2024, is the training of this 20 Superintendent Route Commanders (SRC) who graduated from Junior Staff Course in FRSC Command and Staff College.

“They are awarded with the Pass Junior Staff College (PJSC) certificates,”he said.

The FRSC boss assured that the FRSC would prioritise ongoing training and professional development for its officers and personnel.

This, he said would ensure the officers possess the necessary skills and expertise to deliver exceptional service and achieve optimal performance.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Corps Marshal also inagurated Marshal refresher course on Repositioning FRSC for enhanced service delivery in Patrol and rescue operation on August. 25.
