Bauchi launches new policies to sanitize mining sector, boost economy

In a bid to harness the economic potential of the mining sector, the Bauchi State Government has introduced new strategic policies aimed at sanitising mining activities in the state.
The state Commissioner of Natural Resources, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, made this known during a workshop organised by the ministry for stakeholders in Shira local government area of the state.
According to him, the move is expected to generate revenue, create employment opportunities, and ensure environmental sustainability
He added that the state government is determined to make the mining sector a significant contributor to the state’s economy.
“We are determined to sanitise the mining sector and make it a significant contributor to the state’s economy.
“The new policies will focus on supporting legitimate mining businesses and ensuring fair and transparent operations.”, he said.
The government has warned that it will not tolerate illegal mining activities in the state.
The commissioner commended the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed for its support in attracting national and international investors and called on mining companies to comply with all laws and orders.
The new strategic framework is expected to bring sanity to the mining sector, generate revenue for the state, and promote sustainable development.
