Hardship: Government extends work-from-home policy to mitigate rising cost of living

In a bid to cushion the effects of the rising cost of living, the Lagos State Government has extended its work-from-home policy for civil servants by an additional three months.

This decision, announced by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, aims to alleviate the financial burden on employees amidst the removal of petrol subsidy.

The “flexible work initiative,” which was initially introduced in February, allows workers on grade levels 01 to 14 to work from home for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 can work remotely for one day. The policy has now been extended from September 4th to December 3rd, 2024.

The government has directed all accounting officers to ensure compliance with this directive and to give it the necessary publicity across the service. This move is expected to bring some relief to civil servants who are struggling to cope with the increasing cost of living in Lagos State.
