#Edodecides2024: EFCC arrests suspected vote-buyers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made a significant move to curb electoral malpractices in the ongoing Edo Governorship election, arresting three suspected vote-buyers in the Egor Local Government Area.
The operation, which took place around 10:00 am, saw EFCC operatives apprehend two males and one female suspected of engaging in vote-buying activities. However, some residents resisted the arrest, claiming the individuals were being unfairly targeted.
Despite the resistance, the EFCC remains committed to ensuring a free and fair election. The commission has deployed its operatives across the state to monitor the elections and prevent financial inducement.
The EFCC’s efforts are part of a broader initiative to promote electoral integrity and prevent manipulation. Working closely with security agencies, the commission aims to safeguard the democratic process.
Edo State’s Inspector-General of Police has also implemented measures to prevent electoral violence and malpractices, including restricting movement across the state from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The EFCC’s proactive stance sends a strong message against electoral malpractices. As Edo State citizens exercise their right to vote, the commission’s presence helps ensure a transparent and fair process.
