VIDEO: Davido opens up about relationship with Wizkid

Famous Afrobeat star, Davido, has clarified that there is no animosity between him and fellow music icon, Wizkid, dispelling long-standing rumors of rivalry between the two artistes.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio, now trending across social media, Davido explained why he was seen spending time with Wizkid shortly before the release of his Timeless album in 2023.
According to the singer, the meet-up was meant to show fans that there was no bad blood between them and to ensure his album launch was free from any drama.
In a video clip of the interview shared on Instagram, Davido recounted how he contacted a key figure among his fanbase, Tomiwa, to prevent any tension with Wizkid’s fan group, popularly known as FC.
“I reached out to one of my top fans, Tomiwa. He’s someone who connects with everybody in the fanbase,” Davido said. “I called him and told him, ‘Look, my album is dropping on Thursday. Please, leave Wizkid’s fans alone, no need for fights. I just hung out with Wizkid a few days ago, and there’s no issue between us. I want the album launch to be clean and without any conflicts.’”

However, despite Davido’s efforts to keep things peaceful, Tomiwa ended up engaging in online arguments, which led to the album being leaked two days before its official release.
“But these fans are incredible in their own way,” Davido added. “They also have their positive sides, and I appreciate that.”
Davido’s comments shows his desire for unity within the Afrobeat community, especially between his and Wizkid’s fan bases, who have been known to clash on social media over the years.
