VIDEO: “I generate 15% of Nigeria’s electricity,” Davido’s father

Nigerian billionaire and father of popular music star Davido, Adedeji Adeleke, has made a significant claim regarding his contributions to Nigeria’s power sector.
Speaking at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church’s General Conference Annual Council 2024 on October 15th, Adeleke revealed that his companies are responsible for generating 15% of the country’s electricity supply.
“I’m in the electricity business, I own power plants. I generate about 15% of Nigeria’s electricity. I’ve Chinese engineering companies that work for me. I am building the biggest thermal power plant in Nigeria, which will be launched in January 2025. It’s a 1250MW power plant,” Adeleke stated during his speech.

His comments come at a time of heightened public concern over Nigeria’s power infrastructure, following the recent collapse of the national grid, which occurred twice within a 24-hour period earlier this week.
