Nollywood actress reveals heartbreaking experience of financial betrayal by ex-boyfriend

Nollywood star Sarah Martins has opened up about a painful chapter in her past, revealing how she financially supported her ex-boyfriend, only to be blindsided by his betrayal.
The actress shared her experience on Instagram, following fashion designer Veeke James’ recent story about overcoming emotional manipulation in a past relationship.
Sarah recalled how, for six months, she gave her ex-boyfriend half of her salary, believing she was helping him achieve his dreams. However, she later discovered that he was redirecting her hard-earned money to another woman, even helping the woman set up her business. To make matters worse, the other woman eventually married someone else, leaving Martins devastated and disillusioned.
Reflecting on this painful lesson, Sarah shared how it has changed her approach to relationships, making her more cautious about how deeply she gives of herself. The actress confessed that she’s now wary of being overly generous with anyone who hasn’t first proven their commitment.
“There was a time I gave my ex 50% of my monthly salary for six months, and he was giving the money to another woman,” she wrote. “He even funded her business from my sweat, and she married someone else months after he finished setting it up.”
She added, “I’m a lover girl, and I go hard for people I love. But ever since they showed me ‘shege’ with my kind heart, I no longer give a man a dime! With my full chest, I AM CURRENTLY A GOLD DIGGER. I’ll support my man, but only if he’s shown his support for me first.”
