Ondo guber: Mimiko wins ZLP primary

Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, younger brother has emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), ahead of forth coming November governorship election in the state.
Abass Mimiko was announced the candidate of the party on Wednesday after being voted by members of the party during the primary election held at the party’s secretariat in Akure, the state capital.
In his acceptance speech, Mimiko, who is a medical practitioner, said his focus will be on education, health, the economy, and the security of the state if elected as the next governor of the state.
“We are forced to be reckoned with in this election; we will ensure food security; within a year of our being in office, we will have a surplus of food in Ondo State.
“We will ensure affordable quality education; industrialization housing; and free health services for all residents are part of our programmes,” he said.
He claimed to have benefited from his brother Olusegun Mimiko’s blessings and support, and he expressed his readiness to take over the state during the November governorship polls.
He said, “My brother is happy that I am coming out because he knows I will build on his achievements,”.
Cornelius Akintoye emerged as the new state chairman of the party in the state, earlier, before the primary, where the party held a state congress.
