Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has announced the appointment of Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai as its new Director General, effective Monday, December 23rd, 2024.
Dr. Yakasai succeeds Arch Umar Ibrahim, who was appointed as the Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency by President Bola Tinubu.
Comrade Tosin Adeyanju expressed his delight at Dr. Yakasai’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to have Dr. Yakasai on board. His wealth of experience, expertise, and passion for grassroots politics make him an ideal fit for this role.”
Dr. Yakasai brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having served as a Special Adviser on Employment to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso during his tenure as Governor of Kano State. He has also held the prestigious position of Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
As a grassroots politician, Dr. Yakasai will continue to mobilize supporters for President Tinubu, leveraging his extensive network and experience to promote Asiwaju’s vision for a better Nigeria.
Dr. Yakasai’s appointment is expected to restrategize the activities of TSG starting from 2025, aiming to strengthen the group’s presence and impact across the country.

Healthcare Financing: Dr. Yakasai has worked extensively with government agencies, local and international organizations, and multilateral and bilateral organizations to improve healthcare financing in Nigeria.
Health System Strengthening: He has demonstrated exceptional leadership and technical skills, with a strong track record of delivering results-driven projects and programs to strengthen Nigeria’s health system.
Policy and Planning: Dr. Yakasai has worked with various organizations to develop and implement policies and plans that promote healthcare development in Nigeria.
Governance: He has expertise in governance, having worked with government agencies and international organizations to improve governance in Nigeria’s health sector.
Political Economy: Dr. Yakasai has a strong understanding of the political economy of healthcare in Nigeria, having worked with various stakeholders to promote healthcare development in the country.
Dr. Yakasai’s impressive educational background includes an M.B.B.S degree from the University of Maiduguri and multiple master’s degrees in Public Health, Business Administration, Development Studies, and Public Policy and Administration.
